Meditation/Yoga RetreatSaturday 8th May - 15th May 2010 (7 nights) Where? Benirras, on the northwest coast of Ibiza Why? This is a perfect slice of creamy sand, shielded from the sea by a natural harbour and from the land by steep, forested hills. In the 1960s, Benirras was said to be a venue for debauched, drug-fuelled orgies; today it attracts a sophisticated young crowd, mainly Spaniards, Italians and Scandinavians. Meals: One meal a day after yoga and it is a delicious vegetarian buffet, prepared and cooked by a professional 'live in' chef. Available also on a self serve basis (24/7) is breakfast cereal, fruit, nuts, yoghurt, fruit juice, honey, teas, coffee and milk. There is no food served on Saturdays although you may help yourself to the above items available. Where to stay: The surrounding area is protected from development, so there are no hotels. We will be staying in Villa Palmas which sleeps up to ten. (6 people in the villa and 4 in the apartment below the villa). The villa is set high on the side of a mountain south-west facing and offers breathtaking views across the bay, the Mediterranean beyond and the surrounding hills. A comfortable country villa built in 2000 in the Finca/Moorish style . Wooden ceilings, hand burned floor tiles and other authentic features, all that combined with modern comfort in bath rooms and kitchen , big glass-sliding doors on to the terraces , open fire and central heating. Guests share the facilities i.e. kitchen, living room and bathrooms except room 3 and 4 which have bathroom/shower room en suite. Room 3 at the top of the villa has its own staircase, terrace, en suite shower room, safe and air conditioning . The apartment Room 4 at the bottom of the villa has its own en- suite bathroom, TV, and living room with doors leading to the swimming pool. There are two rooms Room 1 & 2 in the main part of the house that open on to the living room and large terrace that overlooks the pool and sea The adjacent well tended garden is home to grapefruit, olive and palm trees. The villa is a 4 minute walk to the Benirras beach in the unspoilt north of the island. The yoga deck at Villa Palmas has been recently extended and now holds 24 students, a maximum of 10 from Villa Palmas, 8 from Villa Ibiza and 6 from a combination of the beach apartments, Villa Roca, Pagoada Garden and 'drop in' students. Students attending classes at the Villa are only permitted to use the deck. Dining and the use of the pool are only for the guests booked into the Villa. Most of the therapies offered at the retreat are practised on the deck outside of yoga class hours. Villa Palmas is a non smoking property. Smoking on beach and in beach bars and restaurants is a 4 minute walk away. Cost: £575 The price includes accommodation; covers 9 hours of yoga; 2 Meditation & half-day workshops, plus closure ceremony with Heather Prince; half day boat trip; 7 nights shared accommodation in a twin room (Saturday to Friday inclusive) and 4 day and 2 evening time vegetarian buffet meals. Beds are made with fresh bed linen and bedrooms are cleaned on Saturdays only, leaving weekday bed making and room tidying to the guests. 50% is payable on reservation = £287.50 and the remaining 50% (£287.50) payable 8th January 2010, (=£32 per week, from November). Where to eat: There are three friendly and inexpensive restaurants bang on the beach, open for lunch and dinner. Don’t miss: The sunsets. As the sun sidles into the sea, framed by tall rocks, bongo-playing hippies provide musical accompaniment. The best of the action tends to happen on Sundays.
